Hi, I’m Jennifer and I am the owner of Ask Carol. After working in public relations and corporate sales for years, I took some time away from work to be a mom to my two boys. As they grew and their needs became less, I knew I wanted to get back into the work force. The question was, what did I want to do? After doing one of the most important jobs in the world I knew I didn’t just want to go back to sales. I wanted to really care about what I was doing, and I knew that helping people would be a way to ensure just that.

 

On a cold March Day, my husband Michael and I met with Bill and Carol Shockley, the founders of Ask Carol. The Shockley’s had been helping families through Ask Carol for fifteen years and they were ready to embark on a much-deserved retirement. They were looking to sell Ask Carol, but they didn’t want to sell it just to anyone. As we sat around a table having lunch, they shared how the business model worked, and I immediately felt a connection. I began telling them about my grandmother, and how our family had gone through it with her. I told them how it all felt like a fire drill. I told them how she was my best friend and that I miss her every single day.

 

By the time we got into the car to leave I knew this was what I wanted to do. I spent months training with Bill and Carol and learned how they helped families navigate their search for senior living. I spent the next year touring senior living communities all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania, meeting with Directors and staff, walking the halls, eating in the dining rooms, and learning the differences from community to community.

As I began helping families during such an overwhelming time, I realized that I was exactly where I needed to be. I truly enjoy getting to know the families who come to me for guidance. I enjoy spending time understanding their loved ones and helping them find the community that will be the perfect place for them to call home. There are so many senior living communities, and not every one of them is the perfect fit for everyone, but there is a community that will be the perfect fit for you or your loved one.
